Bethan Popel wins the South West Ladies Championship
Bethan has continued her run of successes by winning the South West Ladies Championship at Churston GC, Devon.
There was also success for Lucy Padley who won the Second flight final, whilst Alex Saunders narrowly missed making it an all Gloucestershire affair losing in the semi-final.
Gloucestershire also took the team event for the 3 best gross scores on qualifying day.

Charlotte represents England at the European Ladies Championship in Austria.
 The European Ladies Championship was held at Murhof in Austria. Charlotte represented England, playing alongside 5 other players. The team finished in 5th place having qualified for the top flight after 36 hole qulaifying rounds. Charlotte played great golf all week.
Charlotte is now off to play at Noordwijkse GC in the Netherlands for the European Ladies Individual Amateur Championship.
Shelby Smart wins the South West Schools Championship
Shelby Smart successfully defended the South West schools’ championship with a one-under par total and an impressive seven-shot winning margin.
Representing Filton college for the avon schools district she posted a one-under par 71 and a level par 72 which has now reduced her handicap to scratch.
Shelby will now be heading for the English schools’ championship at Belton Park, Lincolnshire on June 27.
Jenny May receives volunteer award at the EGP Conference
 Jenny May received the 'County Development' Award at the recent EGP Conference held at Woodhall Spa. Described as a hero by the Gloucestershire County Golf Partnership and as: “An extraordinary woman, over 70 years of age now, who tirelessly pushes that extra bit. We can hardly keep up with her.” Jenny, a journalist, runs the partnership’s website and looks after all their publicity, attending their activities and seeking as much coverage as possible. She’s also involved with women’s taster days, the hugely successful away-days for all novices, and the partnership’s rules and etiquette roadshow, which is now attracting a wide range of golfers. Jenny said: “I’m dead chuffed with the award, it’s great for the Partnership and for the ladies’ association and it’s very nice for my own club at Minchinhampton."
Charlotte Ellis wins the Order of Merit 2010

Charlotte, from Minchinhampton, won the 2010 EWGA order of merit, sponsored by the golf holiday company Lorrin Golf, with a narrow victory over fellow international Nikki Foster. During the year Charlotte represented England in the Home Internationals and was the top home player in the English strokeplay championship, finishing runner-up overall. She was a semi-finalist in both the English championship and the English mid-amateur. Charlotte also had an impressive record in top scratch events and was second in both the Liphook Scratch Cup and the Formby Leveret and tied third in the Royal Birkdale scratch trophy. She was runner-up in the Gloucestershire championship
Hayley Davis won the girls’ order of merit. The 17-year-old from Ferndown won the English championship in her home county of Dorset and went on to represent England in the European championship, the ladies’ Home Internationals and in the winning team in the girls’ Home Internationals. She ended her season by winning the girls’ title at the Abu Dhabi junior championship. Hayley also reached the quarter final of the French lady juniors’ championship, the last 16 of the British amateur championship and was runner-up in the Hampshire Rose. She won the Dorset county title.

Hannah Barwood Selected to play for the Curtis Cup Team 2010

At 2pm today (26th April) Hannah Barwwod finally realised her dream and was selected to represent GB&I for the Curtis Cup in the USA in June. Hannah had just completed playing in the Helen Holm Trophy in Scotland finishing 3rd on 7under par. Gloucestershire are tremendously proud of Hannah and all her achievements and look forward to seeing her play in Massuchusets in three thrillig days of golf.

Gloucestershire players perform well at the Helen Holm Championship
Hannah, Charlotte and Sian have all just competed in the Helen Holm Trophy. The event is a 72 hole tournament with the final round being played on the challenging Royal Troon course. Hannah finished 3rd on 7 under par, Charlotte finished joint sixth on 5 under par and Sian James finished the three rounds 3 over par.
Sian James is awarded the EWGA Silver Tee Award 2009

Sian James is top of the class with her studies and her golf – and her skills have earned her a special award from the English Women’s Golf Association.
She has won the association’s Silver Tee Award for the way she combines her golf and education. It was presented to her at the EWGA annual meeting by award sponsor Andrew McGowan of Regent Silversmiths of Birmingham.
Sian, who is a member at Bristol & Clifton, is in the second year of a degree course in applied golf management at Birmingham University.
Alongside her studies last year she helped an all-woman team from her university become the World Student Matchplay Champions. Sian also won the women’s title at the R&A Foundation Scholars tournament, was runner-up in the British universities strokeplay championship, and represented Gloucestershire at County Finals.
Sian thanked both EWGA and Regent Silversmiths for her award, commenting: “This is very much appreciated.
“I am very grateful to EWGA for their continued support while I am at university and I’m doing my best with both my golf and my studies.”
