RESULTS 2011

Report 2011

The match against the Gloucestershire County Senior Men was held on Wednesday June 22nd at Minchinhampton Old Golf Club. The format was altered this year and the 5 foursomes matches were played off handicap instead of scratch. We had an improved result of 2-3 to the men and we are looking forward to next years 'skirmish'.  (Monday 18th June at Tewkesbury GC)

The Annual reunion event was held on Wednesday 10 Augustat Stinchcombe Golf Club. This is a fun foursome stableford played in the morning and followed by lunch. It is also an opportunity for those who can no longer play golf to join us afterwards. We all enjoy meeting up with old friends and acquaintances. This years event was won by Ann Manley from Henbury and Val Wills from Cotswold Hills .

Our third and final event in October was the South West Counties Senior Ladies Golf Society, which is a 'round robin' scratch foursome match play against the other 5 counties namely Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire.
We were the winners last year.  This competition was held on 1, 2nd and 3rd October at Ferndown in Dorset on Monday afternoon, Tuesday and Wednesday all day so altogether 5 matches of 3 pairs.

Gloucestershire was represented by 10 players from 7 clubs namely Bristol & Clifton, Knowle, Henbury, Minchinhampton, Cotswold Hills, Long Ashton and Shirehampton.

(L to R;) Su, Ann, Pat, Carole, Carol, Pam. Eva. Judy,Clare, Frances.

We were blessed with great weather (the week of 26C!) and Dorset (being the home county) won handsomely.  We were a respectable third.  All our players competed well
and Ann Manley is to be especially congratulated winning all four of her matches, partnered on 3 occasions by Pat Skelton and once with Carole Millhouse.
