Senior Team - Day 3 - The Final Showdown.

Report from Karen Rix:

Day 3 - the final showdown.

Another glorious day as Dorset set off first against Cornwall in a match we hoped the latter would prevail in! Unfortunately, it was not to be, as Dorset pulled off a 3-0 win and so, despite our spirited performance winning 2-1 against Somerset, we lost on count back on games having tied overall in matches. So 2nd place again for the 2nd year on the trot.

Next year we are hosting so let's hope we can get revenge on home turf. We'll have a tough act to follow as we had fantastic hosts at Parkstone Golf Club and the course was stunning.

Thank you to my team of Corrinne Durber, Caroline Shepherd, Frances Lindley, Pam Tozer, Jan Pickersgill, Ann Manley and Louise Church. They were all brilliant and gave their all, it was a pleasure to be their Captain.

Day 2 Report from Karen Rix:

Day 2 was always going to be a tough day as we took on both Cornwall and Dorset who, as we did, both had 2 wins on day 1. We started out in glorious sunshine against Cornwall with Jan and l leading the way and gaining the first point. Pam and Frances lost out to their strongest pair but Ann and Louise came up trumps winning on the 17th having been dormie 5 up as the Cornwall pair put up an amazing fight back down the back strait.
After a super quick turnaround, we were back out again against Dorset. Corrinne and Caroline were first out after having had the morning off to sort out final dinner options and buy some much needed sticks of rock! Unfortunately they lost out, but Jan and Ann came up trumps in the last match. Louise and I were dormie 2 up but finally halved the match as Dorset captain Val Ford's local knowledge clawed back those final holes with a couple of good up and downs.
So it's all to play for tomorrow as Dorset take on Cornwall and we take on Somerset. Keep your fingers crossed and wish us luck!

Report from Karen Rix:

Having arrived at Parkstone in Dorset yesterday for a practice round in the heavy misty drizzle we opted for a walk round rather than get the clubs wet!

Day one started today in glorious sunshine and we had a convincing 3-0 win in the morning against Devon. A quick turnaround at lunchtime and we were back out against Wiltshire for the afternoon foursomes. Pam Tozer and Frances Lindley were let off for good behaviour having had a good win in the morning.

Caroline Shepherd and Corrinne Durber notched up their 2nd win of the day. Ann Manley and Jan Pickersgill won 4&3 and myself and Louise Church came back from 2 down to win on the last. A great first day result and just as the rain came in! Bring on tomorrow against Cornwall and last year’s winners Dorset. More to follow tomorrow and hopefully some better team photos.
