Ffion is County Champion 2019!

Prior to the Presentation of Trophies County President Sue Rawles wanted to say a few thank you's.

"Firstly, Minchinhampton you have been wonderful hosts this week.

Thank you everyone inside and outside the Clubhouse, staff and members alike for your great hospitality and welcome. I’d like to thank the members and Club alike for sharing your course and Clubhouse with us this week –not everyone wants us for 3 days We are just sorry the weather wasn’t quite good enough to enjoy your new balconies!

I am going to repeat myself when I thank Paul Worster and the green keeping staff for producing the course in such excellent condition and to Tom for his technical help and to Sara and Adrian for the fantastic catering – all those delicious menu choices on the blackboard – your members are very lucky!

We have been treated to some fantastic golf and at this point I must congratulate Jane Rees shooting 2 under 71 on Friday and Ffion’s 8 under 65 in the second round – fantastic!

And the hardy band of spectators and supporters appreciated the slightly warm temperatures as well as the scintillating golf in the Final match, there was great shot making and recovery shots as balls peppered the flagsticks - Claudia and Ffion's combined score was 9 under in their match!

 It’s been good to see you and a few new fresh faces – over the last 3 days we have watched everything that is good about golf including friendship and respect.

Thank you also to all the Mums and Dads, chauffeuring and caddying and no doubt pleased to be sitting down at last.

To our Referees, Carol Newton, Dereck Buttler and Adrian Lee – thank you for giving up your time to help us this week.

Su Mallon, thank you for all the help and support you have given to Jane this week and Jane for all her hard work in organising this, her first Championship, you have made a few new friends this week– you can look forward to a lie in tomorrow and know that everything will be a doddle after this!
