Win for 2nd team secures place in Final

Held on Sunday 18th August 2019 at Chippenham Golf Club versus Wiltshire

What a contrast to our last match.

We had a full team of 8.  The weather was rain, wind and cold.

The morning foursomes started with Jess and Megan who leading the field were never down winning 3/2.  Followed by Issy and Rachael who took their match to the 17th and won 2/1.  Izzy and Lorna who didn’t stop chatting and smiling had a very good win 5/3.  So into lunch with a good 3/0 win.  None of these matches at any point were down. 

The afternoon weather changed and the girls really had to concentrate on whether it was a 2,3 or even 4 club wind.  Lead out by Jess who was never down won 5/4.  Megan who said she wasn’t really on her game after being dormy 4 down began to play her normal game and bravely halved the match..  Now having struggled on the front 9 having been 2 up and all square on the turn, Elin came into her own and won 2 up.  Chloe also was 2 up and but then all square at the turn, she  had a birdie and all changed winning 2/1.  Izzy Lloyd  had a tough opponent but won 2/1 and Issy Hopkins who was never down in her game had a great win of 5/3.  What a fantastic team which looked at one point that we were struggling turned round all the matches and won 8 1/2 to 1/2.  So here we are off to 2nd Team Finals at Exeter on 20th October.
