GLCGA Virtual County Championship 2020!

Due to the current situation we were unable to hold our County Championships this year at Henbury at the beginning of May – so with some creative thinking from Claudia Ovens, we held our very first virtual County Champs!

Each member of our county squads and the Executive sent in a question about themselves – so you had to match the name to the question – it was one of the hardest County Championships I have ever played in --- who knew that Claudia was afraid of Ostriches and Issy Lloyd had represented Great Britain in gymnastics.  As you can imagine there were numerous random facts put forward.

We then held our Zoom virtual Presentation – as the picture shows.  It was a pretty poor scoring championships – and no vouchers for the winners – just the bragging rights of being our Virtual County Champion.

The results were:

1st Place            Janice Saunders with 13 points – very impressive

2nd Place           Alex Saunders with 11 points

3rd place           Sabrina Thompson-Green with 6 points

Its fair to say that Janice is unlikely to represent us at the next Inter County Match tournament!! but well done to her.  A trophy was presented – which had been engraved (marker pen) and will be re-presented at our AGM.

We are hoping to run our County Championships in a revised format later in the year – we will keep you updated.

Well done to everyone for taking part and special mention to Claudia and Sandra Gibbs for their organisation and many congratulations to Janice our winner.
