Monday 20th August 2018

Glos V Wilts  19 August 2018 at Shirehampton

Teams :

Glos: Rachael Archibald, Megan Bartlet, Jess Brown, Izzy Lloyd, Hannah Brown-Pearce, Kate Thurlow, Izzy Payne. Captain Su Mallon

Wilts: Tracey Scully (capt), Liv Bannon, Sophia Corredor Escolant, Becky Miles, Katie Walls, Tash Chapman

An early start, bacon rolls at 8:15 before heading out to the windy tee for a 9am tee off time. Rachael and Jess playing Tracey and Liv starting off the morning foursomes, a tight close match neither going more than 2up throughout the match taking the match to the 18 with Glos finally taking the match on the 18th 1up.  Next to the tee, Kate and Izzy P, playing the strong pairing of Katie and Sophia, although Kate and Izzy P played well and fought hard Katie and Sophie were on fire, Katie with a borrowed putter could not miss and Wilts finally took the match on the 14th. The final pairing of Megan and Izzy L, playing Tash and Becky, a strong start by Megan and Izzy who never let the match go beyond all square and finally taking the match on the 18th 1up. Morning foursomes result Glos 2 Wilts 1.

A great start, but to get to the finals taking place at Taunton and Pickeridge in September Glos needed to win the match 6-3 so at least 4 points required in the afternoon singles.

Jess leading the way playing Katie with her “red hot” borrowed putter. But this afternoon it was Jess who was on fire taking as early lead 4up by the 8th and never really relinquishing that lead, winning 4 and 3 and with the prize for the speediest round! all over in 2hours 20 mins! Hannah and Liv were up next and although Hannah played very well, Liv who had got the measure of the course in the morning went on to take the match on the 15th. Izzy Lloyd in her first 2nd Team match was up next, playing Wilts Captain Tracey, Izzy taking an early lead and eagling the 10th to go 5 up. However, Tracey was not to give up and fought back hard taking the match back to AS on the 16th and halving the 17th meant they were going up the 18th all square. Izzy kept her cool, and won the match 1up on the 18th. Kate was next up playing Becky, a close match Kate going 2 up on the 7th and maintaining a steady lead, her caddy, Glos Captain Andra, keeping her on the right path to win 3 and 2. Megan and Tash next up and Megan with a determined look in her eye took a very early lead, a lead she was never going to give up and finally wining her match on the 12th 7 and 6. Finally it was Rachael and Sophia and a very close well fought match, Rachael in her relaxed determined demeanour continued to maintain a small lead to win her match on the 16th 3 and 2. Final singles score Glos 5 Wilts 1

Final score Glos 7 Wilts 2
