Team: Rachael Archibald, Grace Connelly, Megan Bartlet, Jess Brown, Hannah Brown-Pearce, Kate Thurlow. Reserve Dawn Rimmer

A night of rain meant that the the course was longer with greens running slower and with wind and more rain in the forecast it was gong to be a challenging day for both teams.

The day started with the foursomes and Grace and Rachael leading the way with an evenly fought match. They finally got a 3 up lead on the 14th, a 2up lead on the 16th and finally taking the point to win 2/1. The second pairing was Megan and Kate playing a very strong pair and although played very well fighting all the way at one point they were 4down however their resilience saw them fighting back and by the 16th were only 1down unfortunately finally losing their match 3/2 but a strongly fought and exciting match. Our final pairing was Hannah and Jess who were playing the experienced pair of Kath and Annie. Once again a tight match that saw Hannah and Jess fighting back to take the match to the 18th but unfortunately were not able to win losing to Cornwall by 2. The score in the morning 2 - 1 to Cornwall.

After lunch and a team photo Gloucestershire were keen to get going in the singles and Grace lead the team out, a good round, both players evenly matched and neither never more than 1 up in either direction. Grace eventually secured the victory on the 18th wining 2/1. Grace was followed by Megan who was matched against Olivia Trelihela. An exciting match that saw Megan playing some fantastic golf against a very strong opponent, keeping close and never letting Olivia out of her sights, taking the match to the 18th that saw the win going to Cornwall. Kate was next, playing a very evenly matched and very close game, both taking it turns to go 1 up, both playing lovely golf and indeed it could be said that it came down to a putting contest. with points going to the puts that did not lip out! The match again was taken to the 18th where unfortunately Cornwall again won 1 up. Jess was next and played a fabulous round and never letting her opponent in, going four up at nine and taking the points on the 14th winning 5/4 indeed I understand that Jess played 1over gross, so Cornwall never really stood a chance. Hannah came up against a very strong and experienced opponent, Hannah started well on the front nine, however her opponent soon found her way and turned the game around and although Hannah fought hard was never able to bring the game back and Cornwall took the points on the 15th.  Finally Rachael playing at the back,  playing a very strong opponent and once again a close hard fought match, birding to win holes but eventually Cornwall winning on the 16th 4/2. score on the singles 4/2 to Cornwall.

Final score 6 - 3 to Cornwall.

A really good day of golf, played in the right spirit and many congratulations to Cornwall on winning the Plate. Gloucestershire played very well and should be really proud of themselves, Cornwall were just a little bit better on the day.

My thanks goes to Tiverton Golf Club for looking after us so well, Cornwall's Vice Captain Vicki Stevenson for her organisation of the days catering requirements, ahead of her holiday. To all those who gave up their time to come and spectate and keep the WhatsAp scoring data going and our first team players Alex Saunders and Alex Giles who came over to support and caddied in the afternoon. To Janice Saunders, Carole Stratford for their invaluable help throughout the day. My thanks to Dawn Rimmer our reserve who stood by ready to join us until early Sunday morning when I gave the call to say she was not required.

Finally my thanks to the Team you are just brilliant!
Su Mallon Vice Captain GLCGA
