Storming Finish to Spring Bowmaker without the Rain!

The day started early at Bristol & Clifton Golf Club for a large field of 48 teams (144 ladies) from 21 Clubs: so early, I arrived at 6.50am to find the front door still locked!  But the early morning grey clouds and chill gradually cleared as the first teams went out at 7.52am and most of the field enjoyed light winds and quite a bit of sunshine.  A steady stream of players continued to go out to play throughout the morning guided by a stalwart team of Bristol & Clifton member Starters, with the last team (Forest of Dean) out at 2.32 pm.  But despite a Course in excellent condition with beautifully set up Greens most scores were lower than (the players) expected: "Not a very good score, but we really enjoyed it" seemed to be a regular refrain.  Maybe the winter cobwebs haven't quite blown away yet.  However, they all returned to enjoy the excellent facilities in the newly refurbished Clubhouse (so new, the maintenance man was applying fine tuning to the paintwork as we set up the registration desk).  Adam and his team fed and watered us very well throughout the day and I must pass on a very big thankyou to all the B&C staff and members who provided great help and support to make it such a good day.  The full Results are available elsewhere in the News and Competition sections of the website but, due to the very large field we didn't keep people back for a presentation at the end of the day, so Winners (from 1st to 5th places) will receive their Voucher prizes via their Delegates following the next meeting on 24th June (they are too valuable to post!)
