MINCHINHAMPTON CROWNED GROSS TEAM CHAMPIONS

On an ideal golfing day, Minchinhampton Ladies took advantage of playing their home course in the Gross Team Champs, with a great +10 score from three of their four scores.

Runners-up Long Ashton on +16 had another story to tell with Bethan Popel shooting a new course record on the Avening course with a round of 68 (-6) and picked up the Best Individual Gross Score prize.

For a while Bethan's score kept Long Ashton at the top of the leaderboard but the Minchinhampton Ladies team of Jane Rees, Wendy Bond, Becky Putnum and Liz Sandilands came in with some solid scores.

Cotswold Hills GC were third.

Well done Minchinhampton Ladies, who are eligible to represent Gloucestershire in the England Golf Champion Club Competition which takes place at City of Newcastle GC on 30/31 August.

Thanks go to Minchinhampton GC for their great hospitality, to the greenkeepers for ensuring the course was in great condition and to all the staff at the club who made the day very enjoyable.
