In the annual greensomes match, the Gloucestershire Girls narrowly lost out to the Gloucestershire Lady Vets 4 : 3 in a great match, held at Bristol & Clifton GC today.
With the girls having to give between 8 and 11 shots to the Lady Vets, it was always going to be a challenge, and then when you throw in a torrential downpour and some thunder, it didn't help their cause with matches having to be abandoned!
The Lady Vets showed the girls that even though they were outdriving them by at least 60 - 100 yards, the key to winning was the Lady Vets short game and their accuracy.
This match is always a great fixture in the Girls' calendar and it was a pleasure to see them engage with the Lady Vets whilst out on the course.
Thank you to the Lady Vets who hosted the match and also paid for the girls meal after the match.
Thank you for Bristol & Clifton GC who provided the venue, to the greenkeepers who were complimented on the condition of the course which had a lot more green on the fairways than any of the competitors home courses and to the F&B team who kept the competitors fed and watered.
It was a great match, it was good to see the junior girls engaging with the Lady Vets and they are looking forward to next year's fixture where hopefully they can improve on today's result.
