What a glorious day for a finals day ! Puckrup Hall gave us a very warm welcome and the course was in great condition for our 2 foursomes finals. Many thanks to Ed Litchfield, Director of Golf and his team and to Richard Jones the Head Greenkeeper. We were sharing the course again with Mens Finals Day and it was lovely to see lots of people milling around with the men being very jealous of the trophies the ladies were playing for! A big thank you also to Adrian Lee, the County Referee Co-ordinator and his team for all the pre-finals day preparation and for letting us have our own Carole Greenup in sole charge of the ladies finals matches. Good job Carole!
In the County Foursomes final, the handicaps were such that no shots were being given so it was close from the start and only a few holes in it for most of the way. Carole and Penny from Long Ashton managed to triumph on the 16th hole winning 4&2.
In the Watson Williams scratch final, Emma and Ali from Cirencester were trying for a 3rd time to take the trophy, having lost on the 18th hole on 2 previous occasions. However Megan and Jo from Knowle were not giving in easily and the match swung back and forth in the closing holes with Ali and Emma finally taking it on the 1st extra hole. It's the first time for a while that this competition has gone to extra holes and was a testament to the grit and determination of both sides.
Well done to all the players on making it to the Finals and finally a big thank you to the caddies and supporters for making it a special day for them.
